Ibanez Artcore AGB205 5 String Bass Guitar
I picked up this guitar in search of a bass that could do well unplugged as well as plugged in. This short-scale hollow body Ibanez is a classy instrument with a dark-violin sunburst finish. The single-cutaway body’s style are all cut from laminate maple and 3-ply binding throughout. The 3-piece, maple-and-mahogany neck is set into the body and accompanied with a 22-fret rosewood board.
The intonation stability and resonance are due to the AGB205’s stopbar tailpiece and tuning machines that hold the strings over an adjustable brass bridge. Its passive hum-bucking pickups are controlled by two knob (a volume and tone), as well as a 3-way selector switch.
This bass has a great response in the mid-range and the low end holds up even to the punchiest bass lines. The high end response keeps it lively enough to handle those jazz bass notes.
